Early Years & Foundation Stage

Imagination & Confidence

Selena can provide a range of workshops that will help to develop imagination and confidence in the Early Years and Foundation Stage. As a qualified primary school teacher, she can link her workshops to many areas of the curriculum including: Phonics, New and Old Nursery Rhymes, Stories from around the World, and workshops that will help to develop motor skills and social skills through the WriteDance programme with puppet pals Yoyo and his sister Meema.

Communication & Collaboration

Selena provides both bespoke and set workshops linking to various areas of the curriculum in Key Stage 1. Examples of topics and themes include: Great Wall of China, Fairy Tales, The Great Fire of London, Light and Dark (Midwinter Festivals and The Sun Wizard), Climate Change projects promoting our Global Garden and our need to recycle. Selena will tailor workshops to the needs of all of the students in order to make them fully inclusive and accessible.

Social & Emotional Development

Workshops for Key Stages 2 and 3 will have a strong focus on drama skills such as: mime, script writing, storytelling, improvisation, vocal projection, status and developing characterisation. The aim is to fine-tune presentation and communication skills as well as confidence and social skills. Selena can also provide workshops that link to other areas of the curriculum. Examples of workshops include: The Romans, Life in Victorian Times, The Evacuees, Standing up to Bullying (the real story of Cinderella), The Windrush Scandal, Physical Theatre, Commedia dell’Arte, The History of Pantomime, How to make a short film, Local Heroes.

Selena is a qualified primary school teacher with over 17 years of experience and an up-to-date enhanced DBS certificate which covers working with young people and vulnerable adults. She currently teaches students from ages 4-18 at Sylvia Young Theatre School. Selena also has public liability insurance and is trained in PREVENT. Her safeguarding training is also up-to-date. Selena can work with groups of up to 30 at a time and will deliver a jam-packed session with Drama games and fun facts included. She can also work in smaller socially distanced groups complying with Government Covid-19 health and safety guidelines. Selena will come to your school and provide all the materials required. She can also run workshops via Zoom and provide INSET sessions to help embed Drama techniques across the curriculum.

Coaching Services for Stage and Screen

Selena can provide a bespoke one-to-one coaching service for professional neurotypical and neurodiverse actors who work in the performing arts industries. To date, she has worked with autistic and learning-disabled performers who starred in shows such as Jitney at Leeds Playhouse and The Old Vic, The Darkest Part of the Night at Kiln Theatre and UnReal City at Battersea Arts Centre. She has also supported actors in preparation for auditions, self-tapes and in devising their own pieces of work. Former students of hers have gone on to star in films such as Jurassic World and The Secret Garden.
